Bethelehem Girmay

Research Assistant

Bethlehem Girmay is a Research Assistant at the Global Health and Innovation Lab (GHIL) at Western University. She holds a Master of Science in Health Promotion from Western University, a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Science in Population Health, with minors in Psychology and Anthropology, from the University of Toronto. At GHIL, Bethlehem’s research has centered on infectious diseases and health equity, with a particular focus on sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), the health impacts of COVID-19, and vaccine confidence among Black communities in Canada. She has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications, including studies examining barriers and facilitators to STBBI prevention, the impact of COVID-19 on Black populations, and community perspectives on vaccination. Her work reflects a strong commitment to advancing health equity through evidence-informed research that amplifies community voices and informs public health policy.
